We are so excited here at Cherry Creek apartments! It’s almost fall, and that means Live After Five (LA5) (http://liveafterfive.downtownbr.org/) will be back! LA5 is our city’s community concert series, produced by the Downtown Business Association of Baton Rouge. There are sixteen concerts each year, eight in the spring and eight in the fall. The series was recently recognized (http://www.225batonrouge.com/entertainment/best-225-entertainment#community-event) as the “Best Community Event,” beating out the Spanish Town Mardi Gras Parade and the Wearin’ of the Green Parade, both of which have been beloved annual events in the community for over 30 years.
LA5 is gearing up for success in this its 17th season. This year’s lineup features funk, country and Cajun music including Big Sam’s Funky Nation, The Gillis Silo, Hai Karate, Bag of Donuts, and Wayne Toups. The shows run from 5pm – 8pm, every Friday, beginning September 4th and ending October 23 at The Crest at Galvez Plaza at North Boulevard and Town Square. You can stay updated on LA5 by liking Live After Five Baton Rouge (https://www.facebook.com/LiveAfterFiveBR?ref=hl) on Facebook or following @Liveafterfivebr (https://twitter.com/Liveafterfivebr) on Twitter. During the event people post photos using the hashtag #LA5.
There are some things you should know before heading to the event. We recommend bringing blankets, lawn chairs, and your dancing shoes! Food and drinks will be sold by the event’s food vendors, so outside food and drink is prohibited. Coolers are not allowed and backpacks are discouraged. Pets are not permitted, but the rest of your family and friends, including children, are welcome. Did we mention that admission is free?
Have you been to Live After Five before? What are some of your favorite memories of the event? Do you have any other favorite annual community events? We’d love to hear from you. Leave a comment!
